A cute name with equally cute products.
Spinkie was a pleasant discovery at a recent Independence Day bazaar. True to the spirit of “babying in style”, the Spinkie line of pillow, blankets, bibs and more are made with designer fabrics so delicious, they’ll make any mommy’s mouth water. The line is by Mutya Laxa-Buensuceso and her husband who are parents and designers.
I got the coordinating butterfly pillow (which can be used in various ways and by older kids and adults) and reversible blanket. Here’s a certain someone modeling her loot.
Notice that both the pillow and blanket have the alternate minky (white) side which is the softest polyester surface I’ve ever run my fingers through. It’s actually a bit too warm for our climates but perfect for strong air conditioning which is exactly when our mariposa uses it.
You can check out their site also for other things like apparel and nursery decor but these weren’t being sold at the bazaar. Good thing otherwise I’d have ended up spending more!
What I like best about the line is that it’s world class (avaialable on Etsy), designed by Pinoys and all the products are made right here – in the Philippines.
When you having a baby so I can gift you with some Spinkie? :p
I discovered Heelarious in Rustan’s the other day. Actually LittleTwinBrat spotted them and exclaimed, “How crazy, Mom! High heels for babies”. I thought she was kidding till I turned her way and saw these.
The shoes are for baby fashionistas (or rather, their crazy mothers) age 0 to 6 months. The heels are entirely decorative – soft and will collapse when weight is put on them.
The line is a mompreneur creation which is one of the reasons I like it. The shoes are so non-essential but really good for laughs and photographs… if you have close to P1,000 (or $25) to spare.
That’s the new line of versatile nursing and maternity wear by Bianca Araneta Elizalde that’s earning great reviews – and rightly so. Her concept is simple and practical but appealing – stylish, comfortable clothes for when you’re pregnant, nursing or not.
I was part of Eden’s fashion show recently but LittleTwinBrother took really crappy shots that would not do these lovely clothes justice. So here, all photo credits belong to the Eden website.
Let me start with the three outfits I wore in the show. First was the Eiffel – wear it as a dress or tunic.
The fabric’s stretchiness happily accommodates a baby bump… and there’s easy nursing access – yaay!
My second outfit (which I also ended up buying!) was sexeh! Here’s what Bianca calls the Duchess…
… and it too has the easy but discreet boobie access…
… notice how the ruching accentuates the big belly but hides the post-delivery bulge.
The last outfit I wore was all about her star product – The Infinitude – a cardi-wrap that you can wear in a myriad of ways. I must say, the styles suggested by Eden are the most creative I’ve seen so far.
For the show, I wore mine this way…
As a thank you Bianca gave all her model moms an Infinitude. I wore mine on Shop Talk like this to show off my big belly…
And here are a few more fun pieces that I think most girls – mom or not – would love to have in their closets.
The Aria tank…
The Diva dress/skirt…
The Opera multiway top…
How cute are those??
The prices are very reasonable considering the material and workmanship are of excellent quality. Can’t wait to see more stuff from this line!
Yes it sure does.
Diapers leave sizable carbon footprints considering they are made by the planet’s smallest human inhabitants. But thankfully, it is possible to help out Mama Earth even before potty training. Check out Earth’s Best Organic Diapers – now available in the Philippines! (Manila at least… through a Multiply vendor).
They are biodegradable and made of naturally absorbent materials like corn and wheat. They’re also perfume, dye, bleach and latex free. But what I like best is the price tag. The current brand of diapers I use comes to about P7.50 each. These are just P5.73 a piece! How can you beat that? It’s the kind of win-win that mommies can’t resist!
This is one diaper change I’m happy to make BUT I’ll have to wait till the next shipment of XL arrives.
