Virgin In America

Posted on: December 14, 2010

For my trip to California, I decided to try out the rookie airline Virgin America.   I chose Virgin because it happened to offer the cheapest ticket to Los Angeles.  I was pleasantly surprised to find how small adjustments here and there can make a world of a difference in the look and feel of an airplane.  See for yourself.

Mood lighting and relaxing color tones that change give you a sense of calm while in transit.  The coach seats look wider and are upholstered with soft black leather.

Another cool feature is the Virgin Red Entertainment System which does not only allow you to play games,

watch tv shows and movies (for a fee of course),

it also allows you to order food, drinks and shop.   This gives passengers the flexibility to order what they want to eat when they want to eat.

Each seat is equipped with adaptor-free 110v power, USB and RJ-45 jacks with standard headphone sockets.  Through January 3 you can surf the net through its free wifi service thanks to their partnership with Google.

Flight crew are friendly and funny reminiscent of the pleasant FA’s in the glory days of flying.  Then again, I was asleep for most of the flight so I could be wrong.  If my domestic travel become more frequent (and something tells me it will), Virgin America is at the top of my list.
